Fit Testing

 

OSHA 29 CFR 1910.134 states, "before an employee may be required to use a respirator with a negative or positive pressure tight-fitting facepiece, the employee must be fit tested with the same make, model, style, and size of respirator" (Prior to the new standard, employers were not required to fit test positive pressure tight fitting respirators).  Employees need to be fit tested prior to initial use of the respirator, whenever a different respirator facepiece (size, style, model or make) is used, and at least annually thereafter.

 

Beacon conducts all required fit testing quantitatively; using the OSHA approved PortaCount manufactured by TSI.  All fit tests are completed onsite with one-on-one training and review of the mask. A mask review checklist, signed by the employee and the fit testing technician, is provided to the Client upon completion of the fit testing.
